Working on the new book, day 5

Looking through old photos is a strange process, a weird mix of surprise and nostalgia. The photos I have accumulated on my computer cover a difficult part of my life; even after deleting a number of photos, I still manage to come across an image here or there that I overlooked, or that reminds me of something I’d prefer to forget. At the same time, I’m also reminded of my willingness to experiment with the medium—my Views from a Parked Car series comes to mind—and that I’d like to publish a photo book some day.

Anyway… Continue reading

Working on the new book, day 4

Yesterday was day 4 of finding possible photos to go with the poems that will comprise the next book. I now have the Delicates and Do-overs sections left to go, and then I can move on to my iPhoto libraries. Continue reading

Working on the new book, day 3

So, I just finished watching The Big Short. Holy crap. I mean, I worked in real estate escrow for nearly five years, so I knew that a lot of people were being suckered into dodgy loans—but the extent of the bullshit that went on around the whole mortgage business is astounding. (And those two mortgage broker guys who end up at the same job fair at the end? I encountered women who were like that as well.) Continue reading

Working on the new book, day 2

Working on the new book, day 1

Technically, I have been easing my way into this book for the last couple of weeks, but today marks my first full day of actively working on it. So, what have I done with it? Continue reading

‘Dear Monday…’ Update (5/20/15)

"Dear Monday…" book coverAt last, I have added a page to my web site for ‘Dear Monday…’. There you can find a brief description and links to the various places that carry it. (Amazon will show a bit of a delay for shipment of the paperback, as I have had to re-submit my cover file after discovering that they had altered one of the cover elements without notifying me. The file is currently under review, so this should be corrected within a day or two.)

If you purchase a copy on Amazon, you will be able to get the Amazon Kindle e-book for free (at least in the US).

A book launch event somewhere in Seattle is forthcoming, as my friend Lola E. Peters has a new book (The Book of David), and has invited me to join her to launch my book at the same time. Details to follow when I have them.
