I have been doing The Artist’s Way for the last couple of years (this is my third time around). One of the practices is the morning pages, in which you just write three pages of whatever comes out. Packages of memories
narrow escapes
and mental traps—
this tiny mind
makes giants of them all

Calling out in the darkness
frantically searching
for the light of an idea
My frozen heart
seeks your warmth

Yet I double back against myself
cross well-worn ground to wear me down
Regrets may cease, but their stains still linger
as I walk towards the brand new day
