Green Eye (a brief elaboration)

Today’s napowrimo.net prompt is to translate a poem. My Day #30 poem can be found here. I wanted to fix it up a bit more, however, as it felt incomplete. So—bonus round!—here is a somewhat more polished version, in which I worry less about preserving the exact meaning of the original. It’s not an out-and-out rewrite (even though I added an extra verse/stanza), so I am choosing to think of it more as a brief elaboration…

Green Eye

Reflected in waters adrift on a moonlit night
while sounds of slumber go unnoticed
she opens up to embrace the darkness
that your smile may never fade away

She will always be there to watch over you
From the heavens above, she will be watching

A spell cast on a moonlit night
may help you forget sorrow and confusion
She will keep close watch throughout the night
that your sadness may fade away

She will always be there to shine upon you
From the heavens above, she will be shining

Just outside the window on a moonlit night
when waters are racing, but the room is still
she will be there, a steady presence
that the dream may not fade away

She will always be there to watch over you
From the heavens above, she will be watching
