My next collection of poems, Coffee Stains, is well under way. Though I have already made a couple of minor adjustments, here is a preview of the cover: Continue reading
Book Design
One more small change…
I have given myself a luxurious several (as in six or seven) weeks (so far) to work on the print edition of Refusal to Remain Invisible. In that time, I have removed some poems, added others, and moved a couple of others around. With my third round of printed proofs, I determined to make no more changes. Continue reading
New book cover art
Here is the cover art for my next collection of poems.
The photo was shot on my phone, and edited (levels, curves, sharpening, crop, RGB-to-CMYK conversion) in Photoshop.
The typeface is Compacta Bold BT. If it looks vaguely familiar, that’s because it figured prominently on album and singles covers by The KLF.
More to come…

New book progress
I took a break from writing this last weekend. In part, it was because I have been feeling the weight of my present circumstances, and just wanted to sit with things for a bit. However, I have also been working on the layout for my next collection of poems. Continue reading
New book cover drafts
I have started on my next collection of poems. Though I do have the basic contents compiled, this time I am focusing on the cover first.
The first few drafts are in a Work-in-Progress album on Behance.

‘Dear Monday…’ Update (5/20/15)
At last, I have added a page to my web site for ‘Dear Monday…’. There you can find a brief description and links to the various places that carry it. (Amazon will show a bit of a delay for shipment of the paperback, as I have had to re-submit my cover file after discovering that they had altered one of the cover elements without notifying me. The file is currently under review, so this should be corrected within a day or two.)
If you purchase a copy on Amazon, you will be able to get the Amazon Kindle e-book for free (at least in the US).
A book launch event somewhere in Seattle is forthcoming, as my friend Lola E. Peters has a new book (The Book of David), and has invited me to join her to launch my book at the same time. Details to follow when I have them.

‘Dear Monday…’ now available!
After a couple rounds of small fixes and edits, ‘Dear Monday…’ is all done! It is available now from CreateSpace; it will be on Amazon within the next few days. I am currently working on a couple of copy editing documents, so I may not get to update my web site right away. But it’s done!

Making progress on ‘Dear Monday…’
I just uploaded the files for ‘Dear Monday…’ for review. I will need to re-upload the cover file; otherwise, I am ready to order proofs.
‘Dear Monday…’ collects the first 365 entries in my ongoing series of letters to the days of the week.
The image you see here is the front cover. I have purposely kept it minimal, neither wanting to resort to the cliché of calendar imagery, nor wanting to pretend that it is a ‘normal’ book by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, when completing the information for bookstores and online retailers, I had to classify it as a personal memoir, as there were no other categories it really fit—and I did not want to have it show up as ‘non-classifiable’ (which is what it defaulted to).
In my mind, the book is a cross between a journal and an art project, requiring a lot on the part of the reader to make it work. Will it work as a book? I don’t know yet—but I have something else in mind if it doesn’t…
