A birthday pantoum…
The day has vanished in a flash again
just like it did last year
just like it did back then
before I made it here
Just like it did last year
I’m spending the evening out and about
Before I made it here
I had to learn to do without
I’m spending the evening out and about
amidst books and beer and a song or two
I had to learn to do without
before I could do without you
Amidst books and beer and a song or two
I feel the words, but I’m ready to sleep
Before I could do without you
I had to fall in deep
I feel the words, but I’m ready to sleep
I won’t remember what I dream
but I’ll have to fall in deep
where nothing is ever what it seems
I won’t remember what I dream
because dreams speak in a foreign tongue
where nothing is ever what it seems
and we never get old, though we can’t stay young
Because dreams speak in a foreign tongue
the day has vanished in a flash again
We never get old, but we can’t stay young
just like it was back then

Kevin, I really like your work and I even have a quote from one of your poems on one of my walls for inspiration. Then I find out your piscies. No wonder why your work resonates with me because my emotions are all in the sign of the fish so I am drawn to artists and musicians who are born in the last sign of the zodiac. Happy Birthday by the way. I look forward in to more of your creative endeavors.
Thanks. Yes, in addition to being born under that sign, I also have Mercury and Jupiter in Pisces, all in the third house…
