Misdirection (A poem)

Took a bit of a break from writing on Sunday, and most of yesterday. I did manage to come up with this, however…

The mark doesn’t look much like you
not that I know what it might be
I still have yet to suss it out
let alone what you might be up to

Sometimes I think I can hear you breathing
when it’s only the water rushing past
and my imagination playing tricks
to see how far I’ll go

before I stop for directions

But the only question I have is this:
If you didn’t draw the map
I’ve been following all this time
then where is it I think I’m going?

    1. 536, actually: 535 through WordPress, 1 via e-mail. There is a little bit of overlap among the folks who follow my Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr profiles, so that combined number would be slightly less, and there’s no way to know how many of them actually read my blog on a daily basis. Had to nitpick. 😉
