NaPoWriMo 2015, Day 14: After the rain, everything looked different (a poem)

Today’s prompt in The Daily Poet by Kelli Russell Agodon and Martha Silano is to write a poem starting with After the rain, it all looked different. Close enough…

That’s what I wanted to believe
that the rain would wash it all away
the particles in the air
the worries in my head
the indescribable something
that makes everything feel the way it does

Really, it all looked just the same, only wet
The things I thought about yesterday
were the things I thought about today
Yes, the air was cleaner
and the cherry blossoms danced in the wind
as they fell to the ground

but nothing had changed
