Discovered at the Goodwill store in Everett. Sticker price: $14.99. Clean—and it works. It’s mine now…

After a cursory check of the soft (PDF) proof, I have ordered print proofs, which I hope to have in hand within the next couple of weeks. Continue reading
I have been working quickly with this one. I spent part of today proofreading a printout, then making the necessary edits. I have already uploaded the interior and book cover PDFs for review; the next step will be proofing. Continue reading
I thought I might collect my eight-word poems from August in chapbook form—until I discovered they took up about 140 pages or so. So… Continue reading
I just now realized that I neglected to do a new Poet of the Month post for September. That’s what I get for obsessing over the things I obsess about, particularly during Mercury retrograde (which ends in a couple of days). Rather than give anyone short shrift in the form of a partial month, I will skip September, and pick up the series again in October.

Friday is September 1st—time for a new writing challenge. I think I am going to go with the thing I mentioned a couple of days ago—i.e., avoiding the word I, regardless of form or format. Will it be harder than May 2016’s verbless poem challenge? Stay tuned to find out. Continue reading
It has been a while since I last posted something that wasn’t either a poem, a ‘love note’ entry, or somehow not directly related to my self-publishing activity (the ‘Resistance Song of the Day’ notwithstanding). So, here goes… Continue reading
It is official! I will be participating in the half-marathon portion of the 2017 Poetry Marathon. This means that, starting with the 6 o’clock hour (Pacific time) on August 5th, I will be writing and posting a new poem every hour for twelve hours.
Although I write new poems daily, try to write more than one at a time whenever possible, and have opted for the half-marathon instead of the full marathon (which involves writing and posting a new poem every hour for twenty-four hours), this event is no small endeavor. Fortunately, the marathon takes place a week earlier this year, so there will be no need to reshuffle my schedule—last year, I skipped the earlier of the two open mics I would normally go to, then scrambled to make the second one on time.
So! On Saturday, August 5th, starting somewhere between 6 and 7 a.m. Pacific time, you can follow my progress at https://thepoetrymarathon.com/blog/kevinjoconner/, and the marathon as a whole at https://thepoetrymarathon.com/blog/. I will also post my poems on this blog, as well as on ello.
Meanwhile, on with the countdown!

I have recently compiled a new collection of poems. Titled The Ostensible Sloth of Distress, it contains (if my count is accurate) 67 poems in the usual five sections (plus prelude and postlude). Continue reading
