National Poetry Writing Month, Day #15

Today’s prompt is to write a poem that incorporates the idea of doubles, whether that involves writing the poem in couplets, or actually making doubles in some way the theme of the poem.

Some things come in pairs
that’s not going to change

Some days it’s difficult
to evade the one-two punch

The tidal wave can’t hit you
without receding back into the sea

Some say that’s where the trouble starts
I suppose I’m inclined to agree

seeing as how the road may rise to meet me
but my boat remains firmly landlocked

I have little choice before me
but to wait for the tide to come back in
