Lucy (A poem)

The mystery of Lucy, the alarm cat…

I wish you had the ability to speak
I’d love to know what’s on your mind
If I could only have a little peek

If I got that peek, what would I find?
What would I learn for the first time?
I’d love to know what’s on your mind

Wouldn’t it be great if you could mime?
Then I might have at least a clue
What would I learn for the first time?

Sometimes I don’t know what to make of you
If your expression weren’t such a blank slate
then I might have at least a clue

Ah, but there’s no need to elaborate
That’s not going to change who you are
your expression such a blank slate

You are a strange one by far
I wish you had the ability to speak
Not that it would change who you are
but if I could only have that little peek…
