Dear Thursday… in production

Production on ‘Dear Thursday…’ is under way. After first preparing the Word file for the e-book version, I copied the contents into InDesign, then generated the interior PDF, which I have uploaded to IngramSpark (along with the cover, which you can see below) to start the process.

My target date for publication is November 27th—which will be ‘Cyber Monday’ this year. The pertinent information appears below.

8: Eight-word Poems Update

Files for the e-book editions have been uploaded to Smashwords and Kindle Direct Publishing for review. I have also uploaded a slightly revised interior to IngramSpark, since I found a numbering error as I was formatting the e-book documents—just the excuse I needed to fix the remaining seven-word poem (which is now eight), and make a word substitution to another poem (so it would make more sense).

I have set up the e-book editions to become available on 27 October from Smashwords and several Amazon sites (US, UK, India, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and Australia); they should be available for pre-ordering next week.

The pre-order links and preliminary info from the last update are repeated below.

8: Eight-word Poems—proofs

Finally got the printed proofs today. IngramSpark made a slight change to their proofing procedure, so now you have to approve the e-proof before you can order printed copies—had I known this, I would not have ended up waiting so long to get my proofs. Anyway…

Poet of the Month: Lola E. Peters

Almost let this one sneak up on me again—fortunately, I made my decision a few days ago, so it was only a matter of sitting down and actually writing the post.

For this latest entry in my series of tributes to poets I know, I celebrate and acknowledge my friend Lola E. Peters. Her poems and essays have appeared in a number of anthologies, as well as on the Crosscut, Seattle Star, and South Seattle Emerald websites. She has also published two volumes of poems, Taboos and The Book of David, and a book of essays, The Truth About White People. She founded the nonprofit Poetry+Motion, which, over its five-year lifespan, brought together dancers and poets to create ‘new choreography for poems written and performed by local poets’; currently serves on the boards of Leadership Tomorrow, Seattle City Club, and Onyx Fine Arts Collective; and is a long-time member of the African-American Writers’ Alliance (AAWA).

As a poet, Lola has inspired me in two important ways: Continue reading

8: Eight-word Poems submitted for proofing

I have been working quickly with this one. I spent part of today proofreading a printout, then making the necessary edits. I have already uploaded the interior and book cover PDFs for review; the next step will be proofing. Continue reading
