Remote monochrome (a poem)

One of a few poems I wrote about Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Playing the Piano 2022 streaming concert.

Black and white
connected by grey

Light and shadow
bound by the fade

Our possibilities
and our limits
as the ultimate metaphor

What does the dream signify?
I awoke to the memory
but it never happened

Sometimes the things we couldn’t
possibly dream about
do

We are struck mute
adrift on a cold day
in December
with only the sounds
of our breathing
to keep us company

The clouds disappear
before our eyes

A slight breeze walks by
