One of a few poems I wrote about Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Playing the Piano 2022 streaming concert.
I half expect
to hear the news
before the last note
has faded into silence
A fitting end
for a fitting end
But there’s a coda
or an encore
The present-day composer refuses to die
I can’t imagine
a world without
I can barely imagine
the world within
though that is the one I inhabit
Will I dream?
We all secretly want to know
or want to believe
I cannot imagine nothing
