Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is another one that made me immediately recoil: write a poem in the form of a fan letter to a celebrity. I made this palatable by using the viator form, in which the first line of the first stanza becomes the second line of the second stanza, and so on, until the poem ends with the line with which it began.
You’re largely invisible these days
in an invisible world
content to be invisible
left alone to work
letting the work
do the talking
Sometimes that seems strange
you’re largely invisible these days
leaving a void
in once familiar places
where you once left
something behind
I can go long periods of time
without hearing the name
You’re largely invisible these days
news leaks out slowly
if at all
and often too late
Do you ever worry
that the world might forget
and move on?
You’re largely invisible these days
in a time where visibility
is everything
Everyone now
takes pictures of themselves
even presidents
get into the game
You’re largely invisible these days
content to be invisible
In an invisible world
left alone to do the work
letting the work
do the talking
saying whatever it wants to say
you’re largely invisible these days

Nice take on the prompt! I enjoyed reading and reflecting on it.
