Looking for the big picture (A poem)

Being detail-oriented is not always a good thing…

Somewhere in all the little details
the big picture will emerge
to illustrate the scene once set
in a place and time so far back
no trace of memory remains
but for the slightest sense of déjà vu

There are few clues left in the etching
just line after line, nothing in between
but no blanks to fill in
If we can’t read what’s unwritten
there’s no subtext to place in context
the picture will be forever incomplete
