Today’s entry in the Writer’s Digest 2015 April PAD Challenge involves writing a ‘things-not-as-they-appear’ poem…
It’s her birthday today
No doubt she’s enjoying the cool spring evening
at a Paris sidewalk cafe
an apéritif in her hand
eyes gently closed
visions of Piaf in her head
The sigh that passes from her lips
could be interpreted a number of ways
but she excels at keeping secrets
The glass is almost empty
her head gently bows
The voice of the chanteuse dips to a whisper
