NaPoWriMo 2015, Day 6: The window of consciousness that greets me at 4:30 in the morning (a poem)

Today’s prompt involves writing an aubade. I’m not familiar enough with this type of poem to know if this one qualifies, but it’s what I came up with. Since it was 5:30-ish 7:15 a.m. and I was only 3/4 awake, I was just happy that I half remembered the first couple of lines that popped in my head long enough to write them down in some form…

Morning comes
I hate to say goodbye
to my night time dreams
but I awake
to the clap of thunder
and she disappears

I miss her
the brightest smile
of a thousand dreams
lingers in my thoughts
to remind me at random moments
of her absence

I close my eyes
in hopes of bringing her back
from my night time dreams
but light enters the room
the darkness fades
within my dream
