Seriously, you’d think nobody in this town had ever experienced snow before. Store shelves literally emptied of baked goods, meats, instant ramen, and even some vegetables. Other shops and businesses closing as early as 2 p.m., and a variety of events cancelled. It may not be cold enough yet, but as I write this some eight hours after snow began falling, I see very little accumulation on the ground, and maybe an inch on the roof of my car. On the other hand, at least everything is that much quieter…
UPDATE, 12:53 a.m.: Okay, now we’ve got some decent accumulation (about three inches where I am), with snowfall predicted to continue until around 4:15 a.m. But Alaskans and everyone living east of the Cascades are still laughing.
