Cornered (a poem)

A more abstract view.

From the floorboards
just beyond the light
constriction is eyes looking through
and looking past

Blisters form
but do not callous over

This is what new shoes always do

When new shoes
become old shoes
but never completely break in
the gait becomes a hobble
the step becomes a limp

Shoulders hunch

A hardened view of the world
turns rigid, brittle, fragile

A crack becomes calamity
loss becomes annihilation

The blister broken
all hell breaks loose
