Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is to write a poem about the cruelest month.
There’s no getting around October
Whether it’s your theatre of cruelty
or merely the pre-show
you’re too cruel, you know
You throw up a course of obstacles
thirty-one steps to the other side
I have no choice but to follow the path
Forced to pull up again and again
I stumble towards my destination
never knowing what it may be
Whatever your intentions may be
I will have no qualms
about seeing you go
In the meantime
I accept you with grace
so that someday I may be free
(4 April 2016)
