To the tap dancer centre stage (A poem)

Continuing the epistles with another terzanelle.

That’s an awkward dance you’re performing
Are you sure you’re getting through?
It’s a little bit shaky—but you are charming

All those people on the stage, and the focus is on you
The place is heating up, the smoke on the rise
Are you sure you’re getting through?

Either way, it’s such a great surprise
I never thought I’d see you here
The place is heating up, the smoke on the rise

I can’t take my eyes off of you, dear
My devotion is entirely yours
I never thought I’d see you here

As long as you’re here, I could stay for hours
Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do
My devotion is entirely yours

That’s right—I’ll do anything for you
Though that’s an awkward dance you’re performing
whatever you want me to do, I’ll do
because it’s a little bit shaky—but you are charming
