Lots of night-time writing lately…
This is going to be a risk
but there isn’t much choice
Once you start down the hill
momentum builds
until you’re going faster
than a rocket ship
travelling at the speed of light
between fields of gravity
Flight could be a possibility
but don’t count on wings
The best we can come up with
will never be permanent
except as museum pieces
Be happy with acceleration
it’ll get you there in time
Arrival is mainly a construct anyway
Yet at some point we must come to a stop
a chance to take a rest
or make a stand
or simply be seen
Not like that clichéd Roosevelt quote
but on our own terms
on our own stage
in our own spotlight
