Homewood, 2014 (a poem)

Another day, another video. Sigh…

I don’t know
what happened before
I just see
what’s happening now
and I’m telling you
it doesn’t make sense

With that load
on his back
he was going nowhere quickly
But the pack has set upon him
with teeth bared
and claws extended

Even the bystander
receives no quarter
as they set upon him next
But his pleas fall upon deaf ears
drowned out by blood lust
or closed by choice

Two men enter
no man leaves
the same tired story
we’ve heard before

Who will it be next time?
