This Is Fifty-Three, day 26
Minor adjustments yesterday—matched images to the handful of poems that did not yet have any, deleted a couple of poems I changed my mind about, and shuffled around the order a bit. Continue reading

This Is Fifty-Three, day 25
Thanks to a lull in the action, I was able to work a bit on the book yesterday. It had been long enough that I sort of lost track of where I was, but the main task was to update some of what I had already worked on, incorporating some of my newer poems, and taking out others. Continue reading

Worked on preliminary layouts for Secrets today. Continue reading
Having started to worry about whether my extensive use of color visuals in the book I am currently working on would work well with CreateSpace, I was happy to find this video on YouTube today: Continue reading
This Is Fifty-Three, days 22 & 23
I finished the preliminary layout for the Oddities section today.
As the screenshots below demonstrate, I did not necessarily give every spread the wacky treatment. In part, that was to let the poems speak for themselves, but it was also to let the material dictate the treatment of each spread. Continue reading

A little bit of progress today, after skipping yesterday in favor of writing…
This Is Fifty-Three, day 20
Feeling much better about my progress so far today. The difference has been starting with the images I had previously matched to the poems. Continue reading

But enough of what could be a huge digression if I don’t cut it off here. While taking a break from all the vacuuming and moving furniture, I played around a little bit with layout stuff. Continue reading
This Is Fifty-Three, day 18
I feel like I lost a bit of momentum today, even though I worked most of the afternoon and made some progress. I think the problem I’m running into is that I want this section to be adventurous, and even ‘weird’, but not for the sake of weirdness alone. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be re-doing a couple of the spreads I worked on today. Continue reading
This Is Fifty-Three, day 17
It occurred to me late last night that this veritable extravaganza of a book I am working on could turn out to be quite expensive. All the photos and color and bleeds I want will require better paper, which will mean choosing the ‘premium’ option (basically, what you’d expect from a book of photography) when it comes to actually getting the thing printed, thus adding to the cost.
At this point, that means I am working on a book that I may not be able to afford to produce. Grrr… Continue reading
