My warm-up for NaPoWriMo 2021 is this ekphrastic poem based on Egon Schiele’s Self-Portrait (1911).
Life
Dear Monday…
Dear Monday,
I appreciate the sun, but how about turning up the heat a bit, eh?
Love,
Kevin

Dear Sunday…
Dear Sunday,
Surprised to be so awake so early. I predict a nap in my future.
Love,
Kevin
(28 March 2021)
Dear Saturday…
Dear Saturday,
This movie has quite a cast. How come I’ve never heard of it before?
Love,
Kevin

Thursday night, again (a poem)
Because it occurs to me that there is a connection that I have pushed so far to the back of my mind that I don’t remember what it is.
Dear Thursday…
Dear Thursday,
What’s the password?
Love,
Kevin
(25 March 2021)
Dear Monday…
Dear Monday,
Sometimes it’s the feeling that counts, right?
Love,
Kevin
(22 March 2021)
Dear Sunday…
Dear Sunday,
I went to bed extra early to get more sleep, not to wake up at 3:30…
Love,
Kevin
(21 March 2021)
Dear Saturday…
Dear Saturday,
I know it’s the first day of spring, but did you really have to get me up this early?
Love,
Kevin

Pharmaceutical commercial (a poem)
I saw one of those pharmaceutical ads on TV today. It opened with people playing at a swimming pool. The first line of this poem was my first reaction to the opening images.
