After great pain, a formal feeling comes—
somehow, they know

Chill—

As the nerves sit ceremonious,  like tombs
they know

then Stupor—

As the feet go wooden
and the body sinks like stone
they know

then…

This is the hour of lead
the instant of flight
the eternal dissipation into light

the letting go—
