National Poetry Writing Month 2023, Day 12

Based on today’s prompt:

Words assemble
to be gathered up
and put in order

Meanwhile I dawdle
lathering up
under a hot shower

Because the gathered assembly
doesn’t spark my attention
so I’d rather stand
under a hot shower
to relieve some of the tension

Or with the flick of a switch
and a plugged-in cable
make electrons emit sounds
that go round and round—
that’s the scratch for my itch

Until new words resemble
what I’m dreaming up
you can find me in the tower of song
