to be gathered up
and put in order

Meanwhile I dawdle
lathering up
under a hot shower

Because the gathered assembly
doesn’t spark my attention
so I’d rather stand
under a hot shower
to relieve some of the tension

Or with the flick of a switch
and a plugged-in cable
make electrons emit sounds
that go round and round—
that’s the scratch for my itch

Until new words resemble
what I’m dreaming up
