Hour eight poem, based on the prompt:
When the train reaches the tunnels
the sound changes
the scene outside the window
changes to shades of black
punctuated by the occasional sign or signal
Attention shifts from outside to inside
I open a beer, open my journal
and write down thoughts
I will soon forget
After the first trip, I know where I am
when the train reaches the tunnels
Attention shifts from outside to inside
maybe I entertain a wish or two
I hope will come true when I arrive
and then maybe, just maybe
I learn where I’m going
