My Day 25 poem is my response to the NaPoWriMo.net prompt, which is to write a poem about a particular occasion.

Up late again
watching the shows
I missed these last couple of days
because I forgot they were on this week

(Fran Lebowitz is talking about air)

It’s not cold
though the day was cooler
but the heating pad feels good
on my knee

I’m not sleepy
the way I was this time yesterday
I don’t know why

I’ll go to bed soon anyway

I’ll set my glasses aside
(I’m not wearing them anyway)
get a beverage from the kitchen
in case I wake up during the night
start the white noise video on the TV
pick some music to play as I fall asleep
put on my sleep mask
and get under the blankets

Before I know it, it’ll be tomorrow
whatever day that’s going to be
