My Day 5 poem is my response to the NaPoWriMo.net prompt, which is to write a poem that has the same shape as another poem. I chose Vasilina Orlova’s poem ‘Pet’. from her book Holy Robots. (You can view the poem by clicking on the book cover thumbnail, then entering the title in the search field provided.)
In mid-sentence,
I have a completely different thought.
I should tell you what it is,
except it makes no sense
and might throw off the conversation.
It’s already common knowledge—
everyone who knows
me knows this—that
I tend to go off on tangents,
convoluted and rambling, and
complicated, with way too much detail,
obviously.
