I am not art (a poem)

As I was scrolling past something, the phrase ‘we are all art’ (or something similar) caught my eye. This is my response.

I occupy a place
in space and time

Some see

(Some see
what they want to see)

Some understand

(Some understand

Some will never know
I was here
until I have gone

Don’t let the lines
and shadows fool you

The composition
is fluid

The light, unreliable

Form and function
in their disguises
field no inquiry

The image
is always reversed

I am not art

I am a work in progress
