with lingering feelings  /  tomorrow might be nothing more  /  than an obstacle  /  of course  //  I stopped counting days  /  when the numbers got too big  /  and I forgot where I was  //  I’ll get to the weeds  /  in the front yard  /  one of these days  /  when I don’t have something else  /  on my mind  //  I’ll never accuse you  /  of stealing my heart  //  I set up the heist myself  //  the italics in the conversation  /  are fictitious  /  I took them from somewhere else  /  for my own ends  //  you never noticed a thing  //  what you don’t know  /  won’t hurt anyone  /  but me  //
