My adult life in nine lines (a poem)

When more words won’t add anything…

Was it that long ago?
It seems so, I suppose—
my sense of time has slipped by

along with the memory.
I wish I could have seen you there—
you were there, of course,

but I was not present.
And in the end,
I ended up here.
