Come again? (a poem)

Mixed feelings…

1
It’s horrible
but I feel a slight sense
of relief
to be thinking about
something that isn’t the virus

There’s trouble
coming in through the lens
disbelief—
no one’s thinking about
protection against a virus

2
The things we’re seeing
are the things we’ve seen before

They’re playing the same parts
doing the same things

We’re coming to the same conclusions
and having the same arguments

Come again?

3
We are determined to win
but don’t know how—
it’s yesterday, again and again

Is there a solution?
I don’t see how—
it’s tomorrow, again and again

4
Come again?
