Fermata (a poem)

Impressions from another long day…

Raindrops strike the awning
but the sky is blue
and the pavement is dry

I woke up this morning
thinking about the same thing
I was thinking about yesterday morning

The movie captured a moment
the recording lets us think
we don’t have to let go

I wonder again
what she might be doing now

There are never any trees at the border

I am looking at photographs

I am waiting
for just the right moment

The diva refuses
there are only so many hours to the night
