National Poetry Writing Month 2020, Day 18

The napowrimo.net prompt for day 18 is to ‘write an ode to life’s small pleasures.

(It’s got to be just right
but when it is…)

The current rages high
the pulse beats tympani strong
the field turns green and red and orange
I sink into the cotton-candy cloud down
and float with the stream as it heads for the sea

When I open my eyes
I see the shadows of glitter
and the light of a new day

I get up, have a cup, go into a dream
the news of the day steps aside
to let the current rise

The journey was too good
not to ride again

Where would you like to go this time?
