Hiatus (a poem)

Not exactly writer’s block—sometimes the words aren’t there…

We haven’t seen much
of each other lately

Not that we planned it this way

The sky went dark
but the tears never came

Who went missing—who was missed
never made quite clear

I tried to show
but we never quite connected

Lines crossed—ends dangling
words can’t find the words to say

Not that we planned it this way

We will talk again—
wait here a moment
while I get my pen…
