The incomprehensible language of street-light haloes (a poem)

Sometimes you have to admit it’s not so simple…

I don’t speak a word
but I think I understand

It’s a feeling
more than anything else

And it’s complicated

I can speak all I want
but I’m not sure I understand

It’s a feeling
more than anything else
swimming in blood and qualia

But it’s complicated—
the spoken and the unspoken
aren’t speaking

I don’t know what I understand

With a good night’s sleep
I might outlast the street lights
and put off the conversation one more day
