Little treasures (a poem)

Closing in on three weeks, and I am still finding these things…

There’s not a lozenge
to soothe anything
but I keep finding them
in every purse and pocket
in every box and drawer
under every cushion

Some of them are mints
some Brach, some TicTac, some Halls
all of them waiting to dissolve
into peppermint or lemon
or eucalyptic nirvana

And underneath
interdental picks
with little tiny brushes
to help keep all the teeth
I will someday forget to brush
