It’s raining (a poem)

It was raining when I got up this morning. …

It’s raining

On a day when I get to find out
what it’s like to drive in the rain
it’s raining

Meanwhile
the subtleties of junior-high school Spanish
are lost on me now

I can’t tell where my knowledge ends
and my ignorance begins
and the sentence doesn’t reference
el sacapuntas
