I bet Newton never had to make this choice (a poem)

And so it continues…

I’m standing here
looking up at the edifice
thinking it looks a lot like
staring over the edge of the cliff

Either way, it disappears into something
it’s a hell of a drop
I’ve never owned a parachute
and I’ve no wish to tempt gravity

So get out the foam and the safety cushion
while I hope for a soft landing—
because something is going to happen
