This Is Fifty-Three, days 36 & 37
Nothing terribly exciting…
Spent yesterday and today editing photos. In most cases, it was a simple matter of adjusting levels and converting to CMYK. A few photos also required some retouching—reducing or removing noise or blemishes, getting rid of unnecessary backgrounds, that sort of thing.
I identified four Polaroids that require rescanning, as my original scans contain Newton’s rings that are either too extensive or are located in areas of detail. When they are really small, or occur in areas with very simple or no detail, they can be dispatched rather quickly (as was the case with a fifth Polaroid). When they cover larger areas, or appear in sections with lots of detail, retouching is more difficult and time-consuming; it becomes faster and easier to scan them again. I located the corresponding Polaroids in short order, so I expect to be doing the rescans tomorrow or Thursday.
In the meantime, last night I heard back from a poet about a couple of poems I plan to include in the new book. Since I had written them for a NaPoWriMo 2016 prompts that called for using a line from another poem to create new poems, I thought it would be proper to get permission first, as well as to ask how she would want to be credited. She gave me the okay, so the two poems will be in the book. (I am now waiting to find out exactly how she wants to be credited—the book isn’t going to be ready for at least a month anyway—but if you want to check out her work, visit http://theadventuretobe.tumblr.com/tagged/poem).
