National Poetry Writing Month: Day #17 (April 17, 2014)

Today’s prompt comes from PoeWar.com:

Write a poem that is set at or near where you live.

I
There’s a moving picture in my room

the man with the cane limps along, in pain
The cat sleeps, curled up on the chair
making dreaming noises now and again

II
The creek rushes by outside my window
rain falls steadily, in relative silence
The trees stand watch, as they sway with the breeze
infusing the air with a subtle sweetness

III
Footsteps rise and fall with the stairs
doors open and close; people come and go
Every day is just a little bit different
but never so far from what we’ve come to know
