Not very focused today, but I did come up with this (and do a bunch of laundry)…

Heat and interruptions
rule the afternoon…

Night brings a soft breeze
and surreal images in two dimensions

Summer wishes it could reassert itself
but understands it must wait for morning

Inhabitants of this diorama
lack any understanding
beyond the positions in which we’ve been placed

The words for it may not even be in our language

For now, they’re out there somewhere
staking out distant places on the map
refusing to be corralled into formation
