Two photographs (a poem)

Trying to write a poem in which no words repeat when I’m falling asleep resulted in this…

Fairy Tales, by Katja Kemnitz

Without the white owl
she is reaching for the sky
to cast out the hopes and fears
entangled like stray threads from her dress
caught in the tall grasses
and dead flora crunching beneath her feet

But she looks down
keeping her face from view

What is in her eyes this time?

Je m’enflous, by Helenina Sâme

I can see the sweet in thirty-nine
but the distance between that number
and mine
will always be present
and will always transcend
every other obstacle
removed from this path

Saving me from the trouble
of putting new ones in their place
