Concession (a poem)

Not sure yet if this will be my monthly challenge (after cutting myself some slack in February), or if I’ll go with (or alternate with) the 20 Little Poetry Projects thing, but this poem uses each word (including the title) only once.… 

I made the mistake
of being optimistic
thinking things would change

Life had a few other ideas in mind
because that’s how it plays
this particular game

Tonight
no smiles cross my lips
darkness settles
tumbling laundry
beckons sleep
