Aberration (a poem)

Stayed in today. This is an uneasy hybrid of two different poems.

In the fracture
I am beginning to notice
it’s best to leave the knives at home
after-effects
have long-lasting consequences

You can’t leave
without creating a gap larger than yourself

I keep track of every little ache and pain
and go to great pains to explain them all

Once you’re born
there’s nothing to be done about it

The trick is
to outlast the disappointment

That’s how you succeed
