Mercury, O Mercury (A Retrograde Tale) (a poem)

Frustration expressed through a bit of light verse…

Mercury, O Mercury, we don’t always get along
but this time you may have outdone yourself
First my money, then my phone
One question: Was it worth it?

Mercury, O Mercury, we’re not always the choicest pair
but did you have to leave me hanging like that?
It should have been the exception to the rule—
but you had to have that, too

Mercury, O Mercury, we go through this four times a year
usually agreeing to leave each other alone
But no—hold the phone!
This time you couldn’t…leave well enough alone

Mercury, O Mercury, we’ll take the time to clean up your mess
but confess—don’t you tire of moving in reverse?
Have a rest—it’ll be for the best—
and we’ll see you again in three months
