Kiss like ether (a poem)

Title borrowed from the song of the same name by Claudia Brücken.

The leaf’s shadow
falls upon my window
and settles
her kiss like ether
has left me groggy
unsure of this scene

The breakdown
reduces the whole to its parts
while clarifying nothing
that could be of use
her kiss like ether
complicates matters further

The way the dots
line up with the cycle
suggests stasis
the blur suggests motion
her kiss like ether
has me seeing double

My eyes close to feel the spin
let it sink in, sway, and bow
invert and twist
In this gyroscope of sensation
her kiss has me
craving ether now
