Bonus round…
Doubt is a clingy beast
the unwanted houseguest
of my psyche
leaving crumbs wherever it goes
but never leaving the house
Getting it drunk doesn’t help—
that makes it stronger
and louder
and more persistent
and prone to sitting
at the computer all night
playing sad songs on YouTube
burying its head
in my bitterest memories
Absolutes cause so many problems
because they leave no room for doubt
My mind likes to smear things
when one color is indistinguishable from the next
that’s when it’s happy
Lenses correct the blur
sharpening edges
but not necessarily perception
